Holiday Craft Project: Cinnamon Ornaments (Show 1279)
Yes, it’s holiday time in ZucchiniLand, and though it may not be holiday time where you live, here’s one of our favorite holiday craft projects! It's simple, involves no baking, and smells *wonderful*! (But DON'T eat them!) You'll need: *1/2 cup ground cinnamon * 1/3 cup applesauce * 1 Tbs. white glue * thread, ribbon or raffia Mix the ingredients in a bowl until blended. Then work the mixture in your hands for a few minutes, until you can form a ball. Knead the ball on a surface sprinkled with cinnamon until it holds together well. Then roll out the dough to 1/4" thickness, and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Use a straw or toothpick to cut out a hole for hanging. Place the ornaments on a wire rack or cookie sheet, and allow to dry at room temperature for about 2 days, turning several times. (Your kitchen will smell great!) When the ornaments are dry, you can decorate them with glitter glue or white fabric paint. Thread a small length of thread, ribbon, or raffia, and hang on your Christmas tree (if you have one), or anywhere around the house. You can even make a mobile out of these ornaments if you're feeling extra creative...or attach them to homemade holiday cards and give to friends! You can save these ornaments for years; they don't seem to mold or go "bad." |
